Become a Board Member
​The Weyburn Humane Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who are passionate about improving the lives of animals in our community. Our board helps guide the organization by making decisions that support the daily operations of the shelter while also planning for its long-term future.
The board can consist of up to 13 members, including executive positions such as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. All board members volunteer their time and work together to support the mission of the Weyburn Humane Society.
Meetings
The Board of Directors meets at least once per month, with meetings typically lasting about one hour.
Occasionally, additional meetings may be scheduled if there are larger decisions or projects that require discussion.
Fundraising & Events
Fundraising plays a critical role in supporting the shelter and the animals in our care. Board members are expected to participate in fundraising efforts throughout the year to the best of their ability.
This may include:

Helping organize fundraising events

Attending and supporting events

Assisting with gathering volunteers or donations

Helping ensure events have the resources they need to run successfully
Whenever possible, we aim to have at least one board member helping organize or oversee each fundraising event.
Terms & Elections
Board members are elected at the Weyburn Humane Society Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Executive positions serve two-year terms. If a position becomes vacant during the year, the board may appoint a replacement until the next AGM.
Eligibility
To serve on the Board of Directors, individuals must hold a current Weyburn Humane Society membership.
We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who care about animal welfare and want to contribute to the success of the shelter. Experience or skills in areas such as fundraising, business, finance, communications, or animal care are always appreciated, but anyone with a passion for helping animals is encouraged to get involved.
